Running Courses

Join our friendly and informative Running Courses in Edinburgh City Centre.  Whether you are new to running or you are looking for help to improve, we have a course for you.   The sessions are coached by Lynette Low, Edinburgh Running Coach, a qualified Scottish Athletics Coach in Running Fitness and Personal Trainer as well as Gina Evans (Run Leader and Run Technique L1&L2) and Lauren McArthur (Run Leader) and some amazing volunteers.  

The main principles that We Run Edinburgh works on is promoting strength, confidence and happiness in to your runs.  If you need a bit of help to get there then have a look at what is available and get booked on to one of our courses or get in touch for future dates.

Run Better, Run Faster

STARTS: Tuesday 30th August, 18:30

The group will continue help you hone in on your running skills and improve your running technique to enable you to run more effectively and potentially faster and smash your goals!

What To Expect

  • This is a 8 week course with Lynette Low – Edinburgh Running Coach.
  • The aim of the course is to coach you on good running technique that will help you improve your running efficiency, aid you in reducing injuries and get you closer to your running goals.  
  • We will cover warm up, cool down, mind/muscle connection, running drills and running efficiency.   
  • Each session will have a different focus, such as,  hills, pace, technique, etc. to keep you challenged and motivated to progress wiht your running. 

Requirements

  • You regularly run 2-3 times per week
  • You are able to run 10k+ (some of the sessions within the New and Progressive Groups will cover technique also).
  • You will need to put in to practice, between sessions, what you have been learning to feel and see the benefits of the training.  
  • It is advisable to be available for a minimum of 6/8 weeks but with 2-3 practice sessions in between sessions on your own.

THE 10KM CLUB

STARTS: Tuesday 30th August, 18:30

Our 10km club is about building on the foundations of your 5km and training to run the Women’s 10km Edinburgh as a group on Sunday 23 October 2022. 

We’ll show you how to go a little further with confidence and start to play around with the streets and routes that Edinburgh has to offer. Our groups are also about supporting each other through the sessions and creating a network of other runners you can get outside with. 

The 10km will take place on Sunday 23 October as part of the Women’s 10km Edinburgh. It’s a chance to take part in an official mass participation event as a group, run the streets of Edinburgh with hundreds of other women and earn that well-deserved medal for all of your training!


What you get

  • Structured session every Tuesday: These sessions will help you build up distance, stamina and confidence running the streets of Edinburgh.
  • A 10km training guide: You’ll get a guide explaining what else you need to do between the sessions to train for the 10km.  You will see two weeks of training at a time so that you can plan your weeks.
  • WhatsApp Group: This is where you can ask questions and arrange additional runs with other members of the course.
  • Support getting ready for your event: Kit questions, race day queries, or a pre-race day pep talk, any support you need to get prepared for the Women’s 10km, we can help.
  • Route ideas: Routes for running in Edinburgh in between sessions.

Requirements

  • You will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear to be able to move freely and with the weather in mind.
  • It is advisable to be available for a minimum of 6/8 weeks.
  • This course is ideal for you if you can currently run a 5k in a similar time up to 35mins.

New Runners: 0-5k

STARTS: Tuesday 30th August, 18:30

Our popular New Runners is back and ready for you to join.  At WRE we are very passionate about our New Runners, seeing women starting to run and realising what they are capable of and what is possible is one of our main goals for the women of Edinburgh.

Our Tuesday evening session is perfect if you have never run before or maybe you’ve tried Couch25k numerous times but just never quite finished.  We’ll get you connected to other runners to keep each other motivated and make starting running more enjoyable.

  • This is a coach-led courselearning the foundations of running and cardio fitness.
  • The aim of the course is to be able to run a continuous 5k run at the end of the 8 week block.
