New Runners: 0-5k

We are hugely passionate at WRE for our New Runners.  Seeing women starting to run and realising what they are capable of and what is possible is one of our main goals for the women of Edinburgh.  We know how life-changing and confidence-building running is.  However, we understand that starting is the biggest barrier for us women.  The fear of the unknown, being seen, not being good enough etc. are familiar comments we hear regularly.  So, with that in mind, we have Run Leader, Vicky, who brings her experiences, challenges and achievements to help you feel more confident in giving running a try.  You never know, you might just love it.

The focus will really be on giving you a bit more support if exercise hasn’t been a priority recently, whether life has been busy, you’ve been injured/unwell or you’ve just never been sporty but you want to give it a try.  If you feel that you want to learn to run at a more relaxed pace with a mix of walking/running then this could be the group for you.

  • This is a coach-led course with Vicky Wood (Run Leader)learning the foundations of running endurance and injury prevention.
  • The aim of the course is to be able to run a continuous 5k run at the end of the 10 week block.
  • You will be shown correct warm-up and cool-down exercises as well as given some weekly challenges to help you reach your first running goal.
  • You will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear to be able to move freely and with the weather in mind.
  • It is advisable to be available for a minimum of 6/8 weeks
  • If you are unsure what course would suit you, go to the Sign Up button and decide there.
