Running Courses Edinburgh

 

Join our friendly and informative Running Courses in Edinburgh City Centre.  Whether you are new to running or you are looking for help to improve, we have a course for you.   The sessions are coached by Lynette Low, Edinburgh Running Coach, a qualified Scottish Athletics Coach in Running Fitness and Personal Trainer as well as Suzi Gribben (JogLeader and PT), Gina Evans (JogLeader) and some amazing volunteers.  

The main principles that We Run Edinburgh works on is promoting strength, confidence and happiness in to your runs.  If you need a bit of help to get there then have a look at what is available and get booked on to one of our courses or get in touch for future dates.

Run Better, Run Faster

Starting Saturday 11th September 2021

This is an exciting new addition to We Run Edinburgh.  Up until now we have focused on running consistently and further, however this is a new short course to work on improving your technique to be able to run faster and smash your goals!

  • This is a 6 week course with Lynette Low – Edinburgh Running Coach.
  • The aim of the course is to coach you on good running technique that will help you improve your running efficiency, aid you in reducing injuries and get you closer to your running goals, all in 6 weeks.  
  • You will need to put in to practice, between sessions, what you have been learning to feel and see the benefits of the training.  
  • We will cover warm up, cool down, mind/muscle connection, running drills and running efficiency.  
  • It is advisable to be available for a minimum of 4/6 weeks but with 2-3 practice sessions in between sessions on your own.  

Dates: 2 Options for you to choose from. 

Option 1: Saturday 8:00am at Bruntsfield Links
Option 2: Saturday 9:30am at Leith Links

Start Date: Saturday 11th September – 16th October 2021

Price: £35

6 week block

There will be no drop-in sessions, only those booked on to the full course can attend.  

New Runners: 0-5k

Starting Monday 6th September 2021

If you have never run before either on the streets or a treadmill but think you’d like to give it a go, then this is the course for you.

  • This is a coach-led course learning the foundations of running endurance and injury prevention.
  • The aim of the course is to be able to run a continuous 5k run at the end of the 8 week block.
  • You will be shown correct warm-up and cool-down exercises as well as given some weekly challenges to help you reach your first running goal.
  • You will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear to be able to move freely and with the weather in mind.
  • It is advisable to be available for a minimum of 6/8 weeks
  • If you are unsure what course would suit you, go to the Sign Up button and decide there.  

We are very excited to bring to you a brand new option for those who would prefer to run in the morning and also to get away from the City Centre as a meeting point.  Its exactly the same format as our ususal Monday evening programme, just a different day, time and location.

Progressive Runners: 5k+

Starting 7th September 2021

So you can run 5k, what’s next?  Well further, of course.

  • This is a coach-led course continuing to build on the ground-work of running endurance and injury prevention that you achieved leading up to 5k.
  • The aim of the course is to work on your running consistency and build up distance, stamina and become a confident all-round runner.
  • You will be shown correct warm-up and cool-down exercises as well as given some weekly challenges to help you reach your next running goal.
  • You will need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear to be able to move freely and with the weather in mind.
  • It is advisable to be available for a minimum of 6/8 weeks
  • This course is ideal for you if you can currently run a 5k in a similar time up to 35mins.  
  • If you can already run 10k, please consider the Run Better Run Faster group instead.
